Bear     Bear and friends     a bit more Bear     even more Bear     Miller and Cody

Caring for two puppies simultaneously is pretty much a full time occupation. As they grew though it was more than worth the work. These two have very individual personalities - Miller is a definitely a people dog... she loves to be close to you and even though she now weighs over seven stone she still climbs into my lap given half the chance.... worth bearing in mind when you're cuddling your tiny puppy, remember she will grow up wanting to continue the rituals you share together!!

Cody is also affectionate, her very sloppy kisses are legendary amongst pretty much everyone she's ever met, but she also likes her alone time and has spots around the house and garden that are 'hers' and will often retreat to them for a bit of quiet time when she feels the need for a break.

They attended puppy class with the dedicated help of my sister (it's nigh on impossible to train two simultaneously on your own... they can be a handful, like all puppies!), however I wouldn't like to mislead anyone into thinking they would win any obedience prizes... bullmastiffs are very bright dogs (I'm sure Miller in particular recognises and understands most of the things I say to her) however they are also very stubborn and often choose what they hear and what they will admit to being able to comprehend!

That said, I have met bullmastiffs who perform all manner of tricks and requests at every command, I guess every dog is unique in their personalities and traits, much like we humans!

By the time they reached 18 months, pictured here in the local park, they were a little over six stone each and a formidable sight when out together!

They are now six years old and still very much enjoy play fighting in the garden and will roll around together for hours.... just after their first birthday I was ready for Bear... Although Bear is not even half the size and weight of these two she soon became leader of the pack and gives at least as good as she gets!

the girls, aged 6, snuggling up despite having numerous beds to choose from!

5 year old Cody - she always looks sad... even with a big bone!!

Millie also always looks terribly sad.... if I hadn't been with her since she was a baby I would sometimes think she was a rescue case she looks so downbeat sometimes! They are a treasured pair though, very playful at times, very lazy for the rest of it!
