..... if you're visiting here, then I guess you feel the same way about dogs as we do - and maybe, in particular the rather lovely and underappreciated Bearcoat Shar pei!
After throwing myself into the deepend of dog ownership with twin bullmastiffs, a year on I was eager to extend our little family. After much research and reading, I tentatively leant towards a shar-pei - a breed I had never had the pleasure to meet in the flesh. After a bit more researching I happened across a breeder with a great reputation and a litter that I would be able to meet and get to know so I could decide if a pei was a good fit.
I cheerfully drove the hundred and fifty miles or so and promised myself I was going to be very sensible and make it a fact finding mission only.
And then there was Bear!
My own blue bearcoat (the imaginatively named 'Bear'!) is now five years old - she has been a constant tornado since her arrival into our home in August 2006..... and I wouldn't change her for the world!

ironic as despite her stirling pedigree,
she's not allowed as a show dog due to her lovely coat!
